A romantic atmosphere

We pride ourselves on going that extra mile to provide the perfect location for a truly romantic break. The cottage will be spotless and there will be candles and freshly cut flowers waiting on the table. Soothing music will be playing on the cottage's stereo sound system and we will ensure that the cottage is warmed through and the water piping hot by the time you are due to arrive.

If you want us to arrange something out of the ordinary, we will gladly oblige, be it a champagne hot-air balloon ride, fireworks, bagpipes, or a hot tub.

An ideal base in Cumbria

Cumbria is a county with so much to discover, and so much of that is within a short radius of Tithe Barn. Not far away is the meandering River Eden, renowned for its excellent trout fishing. Both Derwentwater and Ullswater lakes are less than half an hour away by car. Visit the birthplace of John Peel at Caldbeck, or stop off for a pint in the picturesque hamlet of Mungrisedale on your way to visiting the neolithic stone circle at Castlerigg.

If you feel like travelling further afield, Hadrian's Wall, the Solway Firth and Morecambe Bay are ideal desitinations for more ambitious day trips.

Activities galore

The area around Tithe Barn cottage is ideal for a wide range of activities from hot-air ballooning to golf. The quiet country lanes in the immediate vicinity are ideal for leisurely cycle rides and there are numerous footpaths worth exploring for those who prefer to walk. A few species of rare birds nest in the woods nearby and this area is particularly attractive to ornithologists.

People wanting a little more excitement might head over to Whinlatter Pass, where they can "Go Ape", enjoying the thrills of the rope activities high in the Whinlatter tree canopy. There are also lots of opportunities for ghyll scrambling, rock climbing and abseiling.
